Halloween Skeleton Chocolate Cookies Recipe
Hi Good People! I'm very happy to share with you another recipe for Halloween from my archives. I called it, Halloween chocolate cookies.
So 1 year ago but it's still amazing for Halloween since
these cookies are very spooky. I'm going to share with you my skeleton cookie
recipe filled with chocolate and also a bit of cinnamon flavor amazing and
perfect for Halloween.

Ingredients for about 15
cookies
For the chocolate
cookie dough:
- 245 g all-purpose flour
- 80 g pure cocoa powder
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1 large pinch of salt
- 225 g room-temperature butter
- 230 g granulated sugar
- 85 g light or dark brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
For the icing:
- 200 g icing sugar
- Few tbsp of water
So let's start with the cookie recipe. All right so first of
all we are going to take care of our dry ingredients. And furthers recipe I'm
using some all-purpose flour and some cocoa butter.
To which, I'm going to add some cinnamon. I'm using some
cinnamon here to create just an amazing flavor with the chocolate but you can
definitely leave it out if you don't want to use it.
And I'm also using a very nice pinch of salt. Very important
when it comes to cookies and also a bit of baking soda. And then I'm just going
to whisk these ingredients together.
And then we can take care of the wet ingredients. For the wet
ingredients, we are going to use of course some room temperature butter, that
I'm going to mix with my sugars. I'm using some white and brown sugar.
It's very simple and perfect for the flavors and texture. And
I'm going to mix that well and to have a very creamy consistency.
Perfect. Now I'm going to add one large egg and then we are
going to introduce the dry ingredients. I'm also adding a bit of vanilla
extract always important when it comes to cookies.
And then I'm mixing everything up with my spatula. Since I'm
using a lot of cocoa powder and also Dutch-process cocoa powder, my cookie
dough is very dark.
But if you want darker cookie dough, if yours is not enough,
you can definitely add some food coloring. And I would suggest using some gel
food coloring for this recipe.
We can now let our dough chill in the refrigerator for about
two hours or even like 30 minutes in the freezer. If you want it tightly sealed
with some plastic wrap and then we can bake the cookies.
It is time to roll out the dough. And then I'm going to
create my shapes using some cookie cutters and I'm using some Christmas
gingerbread cookie cutters but it's not going to be very Christmassy today.
Great. Now I'm going to bake my cookies in my preheated oven
at 180 degrees Celsius that's 350 in Fahrenheit for about 10 to 12 minutes or
until perfectly cooked.
They will start to crack on the sides but don't worry that's
perfectly fine. It is time to decorate our cookies and I'm going to use a very
very simple icing. I'm using a mixture of icing sugar and water. I'm just going
to mix together until I have the perfect texture which is like thick, but runny
at the same time.
And then we are going to use a parchment paper cone. I showed
you how to make it on my Facebook page, it's very easy to do it. But if you
want you can definitely use a ziploc bag or any piping bag with a very very
small piping tip that will work as well. And then you can just have fun and
create your skeletons.
Our cookies are now ready and they can be stored at room
temperature for several days because they're the dry kind of cookies. This
Halloween chocolate cookies recipe was extremely easy to do.
I encourage you to do it with your kids or with your family
and friends. You're gonna have a lot of fun and you can be very creative when
it comes to shaping the skeleton with the ice thing.
I will see you very soon for another amazing recipe. Stay
home and stay safe.
