The American cookies are wonderfully variable. And something very special for us for another reason. They were the beginning of something big.

Not only that the Chocolate Chip cookies taste like from Subway (but can be pimped much more individually according to your preferences and are also significantly cheaper).

They are deliciously butty and delicate, slightly crispy on the outside, and somewhat "crispy" on the inside. They are very easy and quick to bake. A great recipe for children.

And they were the very first recipe on this blog, I published this post about American Cookies. I remember the moment, baking, photography, and writing.

We had no idea that 6 years later we would still be working on our lucky bakery with so much joy, passion, passion, and meanwhile also a success.

And for the "celebration of the day" – this time with two young bakers in support recently made the American Chocolate Cookies recipe again. 

The fact that the Chocolate Chip cookies become chewy, i.e. get this cookie-specific consistency, is due to a very specific ingredient: milkmaids. The sweetened creamy condensed milk provides a soft texture.

This is despite the fact that the Chocolate Chip Cookies do not require an egg. It is also important not to leave the dough in the oven longer than necessary. American cookies should tend to remain bright.

Double chocolate enjoyment: Double Chocolate Chip Cookies

Small chopped couverture and chocolate are suitable as toppings, but also ready-made chocolate chunks or baking-resistant chocolate drops. The latter has the advantage that they do not run in the oven.

In addition, experience has shown that it is somewhat tricky to cut off even mini-squares of couverture without it completely fragmenting. We did. You can toast the soft cookies with a single type of chocolate.

We like Double Chocolate Chip Cookies, a combination of white and whole milk or tender bitter couverture, but even better.

In the original post, I used more toppings. How about, for example, a Subway Cookies recipe with Macadamia? Or a variant with cashews and hazelnuts? Of course, the cookies are not really super-duper healthy with student food, grins***

Here you will find a low carb version without sugar and flour. But quite honestly: Uninhibited enjoyment does the health sometimes quite well!

Chocolate Chip Cookies

For us, the best American Chocolate Chip Cookies: The soft chocolate chip cookies without eggs taste with white and dark chocolate and always arrive well!

Baking time: 13 mins

Quantity: 15 cookies


  • 200 grams of butter soft
  • 110 grams of sugar
  • 200 grams of milk girl sugared condensed milk
  • 320 grams of wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 200 grams couverture or drops/chunks, white and bitter


1.  Preheat the oven to 180 degrees above and below heat. Beat the soft butter with the sugar frothy. Stir in the milkmaid. Add the flour, baking powder, and salt and mix briefly but vigorously.

2. Cut the couverture or chocolate into small pieces with a large sharp knife; alternatively use ready-made chocolate drops or chocolate chunks. Lift apart under the dough. Form about 15-20 small balls with the hands out of the dough. Spread on one or two sheets covered with baking paper; as the cookies work well.

3.  Press cookies a little flat and squeeze the remaining pieces of chocolate into the dough. Bake cookies for about 12-15 minutes, depending on the size. They should still be nicely soft and bright, only lightly browned at the edges.


Small chopped couverture or chocolate is suitable as a topping, but it runs a bit when baking. If you want to avoid this, you should buy ready-made chocolate chunks like these bitter chunks or these from white chocolate. Alternatively, baking-resistant chocolate drops like this one.
